About StayTenant
StayTenant is a free tool for people who rent in Philadelphia. It is for renters who got a notice from their landlord after they complained about the home. It works in English and Spanish.

What StayTenant does
Some renters get a notice soon after they ask for repairs or call the City. StayTenant helps them see their dates and their records in one place.
- A countdown to the 15-day Fair Housing Commission window, counted from the date on your notice.
- A timeline of public City records for your address, with dates: 311 complaints, L&I violations and rental licenses.
- A one-page packet you can print and bring to legal help or to the Commission.
You can also check an address without a notice date. Then you see the City records, but no countdown.
Who makes it
StayTenant is made by the StayTenant project. It is not a City office, and it is not part of the courts.
What it is not
- It is not legal advice. It shows public City records and general information.
- It is not a law firm. Using it does not make anyone your lawyer.
- It has no accounts and no ads. It never asks for your name.
- It does not say who made a complaint. City records do not say that either.
How we check the rules
Every rule the tool uses, such as a deadline or a phone number, lives in one file. Each rule names its source and the date it was last checked. It also says whether it has been verified.
"Not yet verified" means the rule came from a public source, but a lawyer has not confirmed it yet. We are checking each rule with legal partners. Until every rule is verified, each page shows a note that says so. The sources for this page are listed at the bottom.
