# Your privacy on StayTenant

StayTenant is built so that very little about you leaves your device. This page says what is sent, what is kept, and what never leaves your browser.

## Got a notice after you complained?

StayTenant counts your 15-day Fair Housing Commission window. It also gathers dated City records for your address. It is free.

## What is sent

Only one thing you type is sent to our server: your address. We use it to find the property in City records. Then the tool asks for that property's records by its City property number, called the OPA number. Nothing else you type in the address check is sent.

Your address is sent to our server to look up city records. We do not log it or link it to you.

The tool shows City records from the last 24 months. They are public records: 311 complaints, L&I violations and rental licenses.

There is one other time something you type is sent to our server. If you ask us to tell you when StayTenant covers your city, or when the Case File tool is ready, the email you type is sent, and so is the city you name. Nothing is sent until you press the Notify me button.

## What stays on your device

- Your notice date and your own events never leave your device.
- Your answers to the short questions, such as whether your landlord filed in court, stay on your device too.
- None of these go in the page address (the URL), in cookies, or in your browser's storage.
- They are kept only while the page is open. When you reload or close the page, they are gone.

Using a shared or public device? Open a private window first. When you are done, use Start over to clear what you entered.

## No cookies, no accounts

StayTenant sets no cookies. There are no accounts and no sign-in. The address check never asks for your name, email or phone number. The only time we ask for an email is when you choose to be notified about a city or a new tool.

We count visits, not people. Our web host, Cloudflare, counts page views without cookies and without any ID for you or your device. The counts show things like which page was opened, the site you came from, and the country. They never include your address.

## What our server keeps

Our server does not keep logs of what you look up. It keeps a short-term copy of the City's answer so the next lookup of the same address is faster. The copy holds only public City records. It is saved under the address or property number that was looked up, never under anything about you. Errors are never saved.

If you ask us to tell you about a city or a new tool, we keep your email, and the city you name, only to send that one message. It is deleted after 180 days at the latest. That sign-up is kept in a Cloudflare store and deleted as soon as the one message is sent. It is never joined with any address or case data, and never used for anything else.

## The printed packet

The packet shows your address, the date on your notice, the estimated deadline, your answers, the City records and any events you added. It is made on your device, only when you ask for it. "Download my timeline" also makes a file on your device only. Nothing in the packet or the file is sent to us.

This packet shows your address. If other people can see your screen, close it when you are done. Once you print or save it, that copy is yours to keep safe.

## Common questions

### Do you save my address?

We do not log your address or link it to you. Our server keeps a short-term copy of the City's answer for an address so the next lookup is faster. That copy holds only public City records.

### Does StayTenant use cookies?

No. StayTenant sets no cookies and has no accounts. We count visits, not people, and we do it without cookies.

### Who can see the date on my notice?

Only you. Your notice date and your own events never leave your device. They are gone when you reload or close the page.
